Biography
1975, Paris, France
After a higher diploma in applied arts at the Duperré School in 1998, he created with two friends the company Atelier LZC, specialised in the creation of design objects and textiles.
For more than 10 years, with his associates, he developed collections of screen-printed illustrations and objects presented at Maison&Objet, as well as custom-made creations for various clients such as Baccarat, Cartier, Habitat, Van Cleef & Arpels, S.T. Dupont…
In 2009, he embarked on a personal artistic adventure and trained in jewellery and etching techniques in Paris. This gave birth to a concept of diversion straight out of his imagination: copper “wall jewels” that he called “wall flies” accompanied by their prints “stamped flies”.
The fly, symbol of life and death, is the signature of all his works, referring to 16th century still lifes. His “wall jewels” are shaped with patience and meticulousness by hand as a jeweller would do with a bow saw, bouterolle or even chiselled. Before shaping it and displaying it in a box like a case to “dress” not a body, but a wall, he prints the jewel in a limited edition (etching, aquatint) or even a single copy by working with a maximum of 4 different colours in a restricted range: silver / gold / grey / blue concentrated as well as embossing, to obtain prints that are the imprint of the object.
In 2014, still influenced by his favourite theme of nature, he composed his new collection with the human body. In the midst of preparing his wall jewellery and engravings, he launched a collection of ex-votos, which are etchings on leather, revealing his new influences. He also turns his preliminary drawings into textile art with fragments of wallpaper and 100% silk satin scarves, all in limited series but in a wider range of colours.
